Arshad Nadeem underwent elbow surgery in London on Sunday after his record-breaking throw in the javelin final of the most recent Commonwealth Games gave Pakistan its first track and field medal in 56 years.

Dr. Ali Sher Bajwa, who carried out the procedure, expressed his confidence in Mr. Nadeem’s full recovery in a video message.

Arshad Nadeem, one of Pakistan’s top medal contenders entering the Games held in July-August, had two injuries but is now making a full recovery, according to Dr. Bajwa.

“I’m pleased and satisfied that the surgery’s intended outcome was achieved. We also performed the surgery in cutting-edge facilities, according to Dr. Bajwa, who also noted that the 25-year-old javelin thrower has shown to be “a warrior and a champion.”

Before returning home, where he will complete the remainder of his recovery under the supervision of his coach Salman Butt, Arshad Nadeem is scheduled to participate in a week of therapy with Dr. Bajwa and his staff.

With a massive 90.18-meter throw, Mr. Nadeem beat Jalal Khan’s 1958 second-place performance and Mohammad Nawaz’s 1954 silver at the quadrennial multi-sport event to win Pakistan its first javelin gold and an athletics medal at the Games since 1966.

However, Arshad Nadeem’s chances of winning the competition were slim because he was competing without a coach and had an injured throwing elbow that was extensively wrapped. He was tenacious and unwavering in his resolve to honor his nation.

In the match on August 8 against former Olympic champion Keshorn Walcott, former Commonwealth and world champion Julius Yego, and world champion Anderson Peters, Arshad Nadeem overcame all.

After Nooh Dasagir Butt won the +105kg weightlifting competition on August 4, he became the second Pakistani to earn a gold medal at the Games. The same day, Shah Hussain earned a bronze medal in judo.
