Babar Azam, the all-format captain of Pakistan, was replaced by India’s Suryakumar Yadav in the most recent ICC T20I rankings due to his recent batting dip.
According to the most recent rankings announced by the International Cricket Council on Wednesday, Babar saw a further decline in his rankings as he dropped to fourth and the Indian middle-order batter passed the Pakistan captain to take third place with 780 rating points.
On the other side, wicketkeeper batsman Mohammad Rizwan maintained his top ranking with a career-high 825 rating points, followed by Aiden Markram of South Africa on second with 792 points. By the end of the competition, Rizwan had amassed 281 runs at an average of 56.20 and a strike rate of 117.57, making him the top run-scorer.
Babar’s abrupt decline on the list of T20I batters is linked to a poor performance in the Asia Cup 2022. However, he scored 31 runs off of 24 in the first game of the series against England on Tuesday.

Prior to being overtaken earlier this month by Rizwan, Pakistan’s captain held the No. 1 position for 1155 days, which is the longest run of any T20I hitter. Suryakumar Yadav, an Indian batsman, gained third place in the most recent rankings.
With less than a month till the commencement of the ICC T20 World Cup in Australia, South African sensation Aiden Markram (792 rating points) and Yadav (780) will have a chance to challenge for the top spot.
