One of the biggest racing events of the year, the Royal Ascot 2022, is nearly upon us – and promises to be ‘something special’ due to it being Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee year.
The racecourse will soon be packed with thousands of well-dressed spectators donning fascinators and headpieces – including members of the Royal Family.
Whether Her Majesty will be able to attend the event remains unknown, after the 96-year-old monarch was forced to miss the Epsom Derby due to ongoing mobility issues.
For those not in the crowd in Berkshire, here is everything you need to know to make sure you don’t miss any of the action.
When does Royal Ascot 2022 start?
The races kick off on Tuesday, June 14 and last until Saturday, June 18.
The first race – the Queen Anne Stakes – will begin at 2.30pm on Tuesday and the final race will be at 6.10pm on Saturday.

Ed Chamberlain will once again host the event, and will be joined by an array of guests including former jockeys Johnny Murtagh, Ruby Walsh and Sir Anthony McCoy.
Ahead of the races, Mr Chamberlain said: ‘In the Platinum Jubilee year, Royal Ascot 2022 is going to be something special.
‘ITV Racing will show every single race and we are set for some sizzling action on the track with our own superstars trying to fend off the strong international challenge.
‘With the return of crowds in their thousands, the royal procession, and the daily bandstand singalong, we are in for a week to remember.’
Can I still buy Royal Ascot tickets?
Some tickets are still available to buy on the Royal Ascot website ahead of the event.
Prices start from £37 to get a place in the Windsor Enclosure, but guests can book a luxury hospitality day in the Old Press Room for a staggering £2,249 per person.
The Royal Enclosure spectators box, of course, remains invite-only this year.
