Christopher Nkunku admits he his flattered by speculation linking him with a summer move to Premier League powerhouses Chelsea and Manchester United.

The 24-year-old has relaunched his career in the Bundesliga having been deemed surplus to requirements by Paris Saint-Germain.

Unai Emery wanted to sign Nkunku for Arsenal three years ago but opted to recruit Denis Suarez on loan from Celta Vigo instead.

Nkunku has subsequently thrived in Germany and is now coveted by a number of Europe’s heavyweight clubs but a move to England looks the most likely option at this stage.

New United boss Erik ten Hag is looking to add to his forward line this summer and Nkunku has been linked with a move to Old Trafford after Ralf Rangnick was left astonished that the club’s scouting department had no information on the player upon his arrival last December.

Chelsea, too, are set to undergo a major rebuild in the close season now that Todd Boehly has assumed control of the club following Roman Abramovich’s departure.

Speaking ahead of France’s Nations League match against Croatia on Monday, Nkunku confirmed he has a major decision to make this summer and November’s World Cup in Qatar will play a significant role in his thinking.

He told Telefoot: ‘It’s no secret there are clubs that are interested in me. Yes, it’s flattering. But it’s also flattering to have a club like Leipzig doing everything to keep me.

‘Here, we will have to think carefully and make a good decision. The World Cup is coming to life and this is a parameter to be taken into account.

‘Like I said, you just have to think it through.’
