Arsenal and Tottenham have been offered the opportunity to sign Clement Lenglet on loan from Barcelona this summer.
The north London rivals did battle for the top four last season, with Spurs narrowly sealing fourth spot ahead of the Gunners.
Both Antonio Conte and Mikel Arteta will be looking to improve their squads ahead of next season.
Arsenal and Spurs have been linked with a whole host of players, including the likes of Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus.
Meanwhile, The Times report that centre-back Lenglet has been made available by Barcelona for both north London clubs to sign on loan.
The 26-year-old is a left-footed defender who has made 160 appearances for Barcelona across all competitions and plays for the France national team.
Arsenal have had to settle for Europa League football for next season, and ex-Gunners goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny thinks it could be a few years before his former club are back in the Champions League.
‘As a fan it was really disappointing,’ said Szczesny.
‘They gave it a good go, and nobody would have said before the season started that they had a chance.
‘They were still in it with two games of the season left. It’s disappointing but they have actually done a good job this year.’
‘I can see Mikel’s idea of football, he has a young team so they will be alright,’ he added
‘Another couple of years and they will be back in the Champions League.’
