Jack Grealish has dismissed criticism of his Premier League title celebrations, saying he is still the same lad who grew up in Solihull and asking why shouldn’t he go on holiday after a long season?
After Manchester City won the league title, Grealish was having a lovely time at the celebrations, getting stuck into the booze and enjoying the atmosphere.
He then jetted off to Ibiza to keep the party going as he celebrated the first Premier League title of his career.
Predictably there was some criticism of the 26-year-old, with some believing he was letting his hair down too much, but Grealish is not having that at all.
‘I’m doing what I have loved doing my whole life,’ Grealish told The Mirror. ‘I’m the most expensive British player but I’m also the Jack from Solihull who my friends and family know. I’ll never let that leave me, no matter what anyone says.
‘I know people were saying last week, “Oh, he’s doing too much”. But what? I’ve just won the Premier League. It’s a dream come true. Why can’t I go on holiday?
‘There’s people that are at England with me now who went to Vegas, Ibiza, Marbella, all these places. No-one said a word, but because it was me, people were saying things.
‘I love coming here. I love training, playing with the lads. It’s such a good bunch. We always look forward to playing with each other.’
Grealish is hoping to enjoy himself ont he pitch in the coming days after linking up with the England squad for the upcoming quartet of Nations League contests.
The Three Lions go to Hungary and Germany on Saturday and Tuesday, before welcoming Italy and the Hungarians to Wembley on 11 and 14 June.
