Made In Chelsea star Sam Thompson has shared a heartfelt post celebrating his sister Louise Thompson’s 32nd birthday after previously revealing his fears over ‘nearly losing her’.

Louise suffered various complications and spent a month in the ICU following the birth of her baby son Leo Hunter with fiancé Ryan Libbey in November 2021.

She has since been open about her struggles with PTSD in the aftermath of the traumatic birth, admitting in one upload that she cried ’20 times’ over the duration of one week in January.

Sam, 29, took to Instagram to post a picture of himself embracing his older sister, who also had her arms around him as they smiled for the camera.

‘There was a chance not too long ago this day wouldn’t happen,’ he wrote. ‘And now here we are. Grateful for every minute I get to annoy you on this earth. Happy birthday to my sister and my best friend.’

He added: ‘Here’s to many more love you so much ❤️❤️❤️’, before joking about her recent house development ‘ps. Take down the fence (starting a petition)’.

To cut through the more emotional mood, the playful younger sibling also shared clips of Louise getting her hair done at home on his Stories as she laughed and tried to cover her face.

Sam jokingly yelled: ‘You’re old! It’s your birthday, 32 years of age.

‘She’s getting the greys fanned out – I’m now going to call you an old bat,’ he charmingly said. ‘You’re the old bat and you are now, by the way, a fully-fledged Karen.’

Sam had previously shared a similar hugging photo at the start of the year as he opened up on the ‘many highs and many lows of 2021’ and admitted: ‘Nearly losing my sister was one of the toughest things I’ve ever had to deal with. The hardest situations teach the biggest lessons, and I learnt to never take any day for granted ever again.

‘To see all the pain she has suffered, and all the setbacks she has faced, and to see her still smiling at the end of it just shows how incredible of a woman she is. Just to see you put on a dress for the first time in months is everything I could have asked for and more.’

Louise offered a peek inside her big day too, which fell the same weekend as Mother’s Day, as she posted photos of cupcakes, flowers and adorable personalised balloons she had been spoiled with, while quizzing Sam over his dinosaur pyjama bottoms.

She also posted an adorable boomerang of husband-to-be Ryan, 31, with baby Leo strapped to him, making food in the kitchen, writing, ‘Our superstar daddy in action @ryan.libbey,’ on the clip.

Louise has recently discussed the backlash she faced for not breastfeeding her baby, despite it causing her ‘excruciating pain.’

The influencer continues to be open about the ups and downs of motherhood to break down taboos for other parents.
