Mark Hamill has shown his support for the new star playing the young Luke Skywalker in Disney Plus’ Star Wars Obi-Wan Kenobi prequel.

The first teaser, which dropped last week, shows Ewan MacGregor’s Jedi master watching over the junior farmboy – played by Grant Feely – and his family, while seemingly involving himself in Resistance activities against the Empire.

The 70-year-old actor took to social media to send his best wishes to the youngster taking on his beloved role.

‘Grant Feely looks like a perfect Luke Skywalker and I am wishing him all the very best! #TheForceIsWithFeely,’ Mark tweeted.

Safe to say Grant was taken aback by the shout-out from the OG Skywalker himself.

‘I am so honored to take on this role @HamillHimself!’ he replied.

‘You set the bar high and I hope to make you proud. Your support means so much!’

The official synopsis for Obi-Wan Kenobi revealed that the story is set 10 years after the events of Revenge of the Sith, when Obi-Wan witnessed Anakin turn to the dark side, forgoing the ways of the Jedi and becoming the most notorious Sith Lord in the galaxy.

Despite many hoping the premiere date will coincide with Stars Wars Day, (May 4) fans are still counting down the days to Wednesday May 25, nonetheless.

Although Ewan is keeping the element of mystery alive, he’s assured devoted viewers that they’ll be ‘satisfied’ by what they see.

‘I always felt there was a story between Episode III where I finished playing Obi-Wan in the movies and Episode IV where Alec Guinness is Obi-Wan Kenobi,’ he told Forbes.

‘The [Obi-Wan Kenobi series] writers and Deb and I and everyone, I think we crafted or they crafted a very fine storyline. I think people are going to like it.’

With Hayden Christensen also returning as Anakin Skywalker, it looks like we’re in for a treat!

Obi-Wan Kenobi is set to premiere on Wednesday May 25 on Disney Plus.
