ITV and STV will be hosting a live two-hour concert to raise money for the DEC Ukraine Humanitarian appeal, as Russia’s invasion intensifies.

Concert for Ukraine will premiere on Tuesday March 29 with an array of musical guests taking to the stage and spreading a message of hope and support in a crisis that has seen over 1.5million Ukrainians fleeing their homes.

While no performers have been confirmed, the line-up will be revealed in a couple of days in an event delivering ‘top names’ from the world of music.

ITV’s Head of Entertainment Commissioning, Katie Rawcliffe said: ‘Music is a very powerful tool when it comes to showing support and solidarity, and at ITV we are proud and privileged to be working with Livewire Pictures, Global, M&S and the DEC on such an important and necessary fundraising event.’

While STV’s Managing Director of Broadcast, Bobby Hain added: ‘We’ve seen time and time again that the generosity of STV viewers knows no bounds.

‘As the crisis in Ukraine continues to intensify at an alarming rate, this event will be an opportunity for our audiences to come together through the power of music, show our whole-hearted support for Ukraine, and help make a difference to those affected through the work of DEC charities.’

During Wednesday’s This Morning presenters Josie Gibson and Phillip Schofield addressed the news and urged viewers to donate to the important cause.

‘If you haven’t already donated to the Ukraine appeal, this will be your chance to pledge and help the ongoing relief efforts helping millions affected by the war,’ Josie said.

‘Very happy to announce that, sounds amazing,’ Phillip enthused.

DEC’s chief executive Saleh Saeed stressed Ukraine’s situation is becoming ‘increasingly precarious’ but hopes the upcoming event will help ‘rebuild lives.’

‘It is heart-breaking to see the deepening crisis unfolding in Ukraine as more refugees cross the borders each day with nothing more than what they can carry,’ Saleh said.

‘We are grateful to ITV, Livewire and Global Media for their support to this appeal, our special thanks to ITV who have supported DEC with emergency appeals over many decades.’

Concert for Ukraine airs on Tuesday March 29 on ITV.
