Catherine Tate has responded to rumours that she’s going to reprise her role in Doctor Who, and it sounds like she’s keen.
Catherine played Donna Noble in season four of the BBC science fiction show, and had also appeared in the second and third series.
In March, 2021, Doctor Who fans were sent into a frenzy over speculation that she would return in series 13 after Jodie Whittaker was spotted filming the new series with co-star John Bishop.
The comedian, 52, made an appearance on the One Show earlier today to promote her forthcoming flick The Nan Movie, which is based on Catherine’s much-loved foul-mouthed elderly character Nan, when she was asked about the rumours.
During the chat, Jermaine Jenas questioned whether she might return to the 60th anniversary.
He asked: ‘There’s a rumour that you might return for the 60th anniversary of Doctor Who?’
‘Is there? I’ve probably started a lot of them! But, what can I tell you?,’ she replied.
‘No, I wish it was. No one has been in touch if they have.
‘I’m on the same number, I’d like to say. So, if you’ve got the money, I’ve got the time!’
As well as Nan, Catherine will next be on our screens in upcoming Netflix mockumentary series Hard Cell, which has been directed by EastEnders’ Cheryl Fergison.
Netflix confirmed the news on Twitter along with the official release date, and wrote: ‘Catherine Tate’s brand new documentary style comedy set in a female prison, Hard Cell, comes to Netflix on 12 April.’
The official synopsis read: ‘Rehearsals draw together an oddball collection of women as they find their voices, grow in confidence, and strengthen their friendships.
‘Funny yet surprisingly moving, Hard Cell leans into the comical truth of prison life.’
The One Show is available to stream on BBC iPlayer now.
