The Baftas 2022 are almost here and fans are preparing to see one of the biggest nights in British entertainment in all its glitz and glam.

Hosted by Rebel Wilson, the awards will celebrate the best talent in film.

Up for awards this year are stars including Benedict Cumberbatch, Leonardo DiCaprio, Lady Gaga, Tessa Thompson, Jessie Buckley, and Kodi Smit-McPhee.

Films like Belfast, Last Night In Soho, House of Gucci, and No Time To Die have received a nod.

Meanwhile, up for the rising star award are actors Ariana DeBose, Harris Dickinson, Lashana Lynch, Millicent Simmonds, and Kodi Smit-McPhee.

As for who’s won the most Baftas, in the acting categories it’s a three-way tie.

Dame Maggie Smith, Dame Judi Dench, and the late Peter Finch have all won five Baftas each.

However, Dame Maggie was awarded the film fellowship in 1996 and the special award in 1993, technically giving her the record.

While Dame Judi is up for an Oscar this year for her role in Belfast, she didn’t get a Bafta nomination so that figure will stay the same at least for this year.

For nominations, Dame Judi is tied with Meryl Streep, with the pair both earning a whopping 15 nods each during their careers.

In the directing categories, a whole host of directors are tied for the top spot, each earning two Baftas.

Meanwhile, one film has held the record for the most Baftas for over half a century – Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, after it won nine awards in 1971.

When are the Baftas?

The Baftas 2022 will be hosted on Sunday March 13 from 7pm.

The EE British Academy Film Awards will air on BBC One on Sunday at 7pm.
