Popular skateboarder Zane Timpson has reportedly died at the age of 26.

Friends of Timpson shared their shock and devastation at the news, which was announced in an obituary by skateboarding publication Thrasher on Sunday.

However, a cause of death has not been revealed and Timpson’s family members have not spoken out.

One of Timpson’s best friends, fellow skateboarder Jordan Maxham, wrote in a heartfelt Instagram tribute: ‘I cried all day yesterday. I hugged your pro model board that you signed for me. I took it skating with me and went frontside the whole time. I read our texts and called you. You didnt answer.

‘I left you a voice mail that nobody will hear. If they do, They wont understand cause i could barely speak through the flood of tears. I woke up crying again today i still cant graps the fact that you are away. The big away. You have always been so kind and loving. I am proud of the man you grew up to be.’

He added: ‘I am lucky to have gotten to spend so much time with you. I will scream your name forever. I love you zane.’

In the obituary, written by Adam Anorga, Timpson was described as ‘multifaceted’ and a poet who ‘loved words’ and had a dark sense of humour.

Anorga recalled filming and editing skateboard videos with Timpson for several years, and said his late friend ‘taught [him] everything [he] knew’.

‘I love you so much, Zane. You will be dearly missed by all of us,’ he concluded.

Another friend left a tribute on Timpson’s final Instagram post, which read: ‘You are art and freedom in motion, Zane. Easily one of the most conceptual and inspiring human beings to ever exist.

‘Thank you for all the poetry and existential conversations we shared. Always real connection. You always showed up with your rawest love and I appreciate you so much brother. A true warrior of light and life.’

They added: ‘You created more in the now than most create in a lifetime. Eye see you deeply and love you with everything I got, thank you for showing us the portals of your illuminated soul, that will continue to perpetually ignite our hearts on fire. You are everything profoundly good in this world, beautiful soul. Your spirit is a light that can never dim…I love you.’
