Adam Peaty was the sixth celebrity to leave Strictly Come Dancing, and his girlfriend Eiri Munro has admitted she’s ‘relieved’ it’s all over.

The Olympic swimmer, 26, and professional partner Katya Jones survived seven weeks on the hit dance show, and although Eiri has been supporting her man all the way, she revealed it hasn’t been an easy ride.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, she explained: ‘The moment Adam comes on screen, George makes a beeline for the TV, shaking his bottom to the music and shouting ”daddy.”

‘The delight in his face makes all these long days, feeling like a single mum, worthwhile.’

While Eiri was happy to finally have Adam back home, his mum Caroline Peaty, branded his exit as a ‘total fix.’

In a Twitter post, she said: ‘Proud @adam_peaty and @Mrs_katjones such an amazing partnership and @Mrs_katjones you have taught my baby boy how to dance, thank you x Total fix and I’m not buying the public vote.’

Adam’s relationship with Eiri – who he shares son George-Anderson with – was thrown into the spotlight when viewers thought he appeared to lean in for a kiss with Katya at the end of their steamy Argentine Tango.

However, as soon as he was eliminated, Adam hit back at his critics and urged them to ‘do better.’

‘For the people who tried to bring us down throughout the show, please challenge yourself to be better. The world needs much more positivity and truth,’ he said.

There are now seven couples left in the competition, including John Whaite, Rose Ayling-Ellis and AJ Odudu.

Dan Walker, Rhys Stephenson, Tilly Ramsay and Tom Fletcher are also fighting for the glitterball.

This weekend’s show will see the celebrities performing brand new dances inspired by our favourite musicals.

Strictly Come Dancing returns on Saturday at 6.35pm on BBC One.
