According to a new scientific study, rockfish have DNA that allows them to survive for over 200 years, which might be the path to eternal life.

According to a new study, the species, which looks like a big goldfish, has pointers to genes that determine lifespan.

The fish may live for more than 200 years, making them one of the world’s longest-living creatures, and scientists now believe that their genetic makeup may be able to help people live longer.

The researchers uncovered 137 genes that help rockfish live longer by making them larger and more resistant to environmental disturbances.

According to Professor Peter Sudmant, from the University of California in Berkely, “Humans live longer than most vertebrates, but rockfish can offer humans strategies for improvement.”

He added, “Genetic adaptations found in rockfish illustrate that strategies to improve DNA repair and control inflammation may improve health and extend lifespan.”

“There’s an opportunity here. . . to think about how those same sorts of genes are acting in our own bodies.”
