While going from Srinagar to Ladakh, a motorbike rider narrowly avoided an accident. He lost control of his bike as he went over the tight parts of the Zojila pass behind a truck loaded with iron pipes.
Due to recent precipitation, the area was slick and muddy. As he tried to regain control, the rider reached the path’s edge and was ready to fall off, but he pulled over just in time. On his camera, the biker behind him caught the hair-raising moment.
The Zojila pass, which connects the Kashmir valley and Ladakh, is regarded as one of the world’s most perilous mountain passes.
The movie starts with two bikers following the truck and admiring the spectacular scenery of the snow-covered mountains over a long stretch of road.
One of them suddenly resolves to overtake the truck from the cliff’s edge. He is cautioned by the other rider. “Dekh Ke (watch out),” he warns.
The first rider abandons the idea but continues to drive along the edge since he can’t gain enough room to go past the truck.
He approaches dangerously near the iron pipes and loses his steadiness before he realizes it. He leans over the edge after failing to balance the fully loaded motorbike. The rider in front of him says, “Easy, easy, easy.”
The first rider manages to save himself from falling down the cliff, but he is unable to bring the car back up. The other rider then approaches him and assists him in getting back on his bike, “At Zoji La Pass, we had this extreme close call and we’re lucky to be alive,” says a note that appears during the video.
Bhupender Jaat posted the video on his Facebook page. The event happened last month, but it was just recently released on the YouTube channel ViralHog. It has already had over 5,100 views.
As a user commented, “Everything about this video is legit, life-threatening. The road, the truck, the cliff, the traffic behind. Attempting to pass seems about as reasonable as texting while driving. Oh, wait…”
Another user stated, “Mistakes or accidents happen when you rush… Please be careful all.”
The third one stated, “Get that close and trying to bypass…mmm…the dude asking for a death sentence.”
However, not everyone was so tolerant of the rider’s flaws.
According to a user, “Who thought it was a good idea to not only get that close but to try and pass them as well?”
Read a sarcastic comment, “C’mon, man, get out of my way, truck! Don’t you know I have a hair appointment to get to!?”
According to the user, “Absolute braindead riders. Why so close to a truck with huge pipes sticking out, pointing down right at you? What could go wrong?”
