The youngest Nobel Peace Prize winner to date, Malala Yousufzai, tied the knot with Asser Malik and pictures from the intimate ceremony in Birmingham have stormed social media. Fans and admirers were curious to know how the two met and Malala did not hold back as she shared the story of how met Asser and how the two ended up getting married.

Starting with how the 24-year-old always thought she’d get married at 35, Malala recalled how girls of her age were already married with kids before they could even decide on their careers. Appalled at the situation Malala went back to the statement she gave to British Vogue saying marriage was not for her and sharing what she believed back then. But what changed?

Malala then went on to share how she first crossed paths with Asser Malik in 2018 when he came to visit his friends at Oxford. With cricket being the conversation starter, the two got along pretty well and loved each other’s company. The two soon became best friends and fought through the ups and downs of their lives together. Malala even claimed to send Asser their horoscope compatibility when words failed.

It was then that Malala realized that you can enjoy the best of both worlds – friendship, love, and equality in marriage and the two decided to get married.

Malala also shared how she spent the day before her nikkah out shopping with Asser preparing for the ceremony. In the end, Malala concluded that she was thrilled to experience life together as friends and as companions with Asser by her side.
