HBO Max has revealed when part two of season one of the Gossip Girl reboot is set to premiere, after landing on streaming services earlier this year.
Ever since the original series of Gossip Girl finished back in 2012, fans have been begging for more episodes.
Their wishes were granted as it finally returned with a brand-new cast of Upper East Siders to grace the corridors of Constance and St Jude’s, this summer.
Despite the new episodes being given quite mixed reviews, millions of viewers still binged them all in one go.
After a finale which left us with many questions, it seems we’ll get answers in just a couple of weeks time, as part two has been given release date by HBO Max.
The second half of season one will return on Thursday, November 25 – just in time for Thanksgiving.
There will be six more episodes to come, heavily exploring how social media has changed the way the anonymous blog works in New York.
However, back in August Joshua Safran, the creator of the reboot, said there was no return on the cards for Blair Waldorf or any other core cast members.
He shared: ‘There’s no series regular from the original coming back. Maybe that’s not true, sorry. None of the core five or six kids are in the back half, but there are cameos from original cast members and there are references [to the original].
‘Even just as simple as episode seven is a Thanksgiving episode, and you know, Thanksgiving on Gossip Girl, it’s a traditional event on our show and a traditional event in the world.’
The reboot instead sees the power of gossip given to the teachers at Constance and St Jude’s, who are fed up with the way they are treated by the richest kids of the Upper East Side – and their families.
It focuses on the reconnection of long-lost sisters Julien Calloway (Jordan Alexander) and Zoya Lott (Whitney Peak), who secretly meddled behind-the-scenes to end up at school together.
Unfortunately, sparks flew as they both ended up falling for the same guy, Obie Bergmann IV (Eli Brown) – with it not yet known who he will end up with when the show returns for the second batch of episodes.
The original show’s narrator Kristen Bell returned as the voice of the titular character and the reboot was hailed by the steamer as its most-watched original series over the first weekend.
A season two was later announced by the broadcaster back in September – expected to air in 2022.
Gossip Girl airs on HBO Max in the US, and broadcasts on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the UK.
