Combining the limitless potential of technology and magic, Icelone, a brilliant young magician from Malaysia, put on an incredible spectacle with an immersive ‘Interactive Illusion’ performance at the 40th Sharjah International Book Fair at Expo Centre Sharjah. Imagination, illusion, reality, and technology intertwined to breathe new life into book themes, graphics, and animations as the young magician effortlessly blurred the lines between reality and fantasy.
Icelone opened his act at the large dome-shaped theatre outside the main entrance of the SIBF 2021 venue with an interactive LED performance that had all guests on the edge of their seats as he pulled out sticks, flowers, and cards out of thin air. Carrying an empty, transparent suitcase, Icelone stunned the audience as it filled up in a flash with colourful strips of paper that were fluttering in the air!
The audience held their breath as the magician raced against time to free himself from a straitjacket within a span of 90 seconds, emerging out of its shackles with just 8 seconds to spare! Engaging the SIBF audience in his various acts, Icelone popped balloons on their heads and between their ankles slashing through with a knife whilst being blindfolded.
Following the performance, Icelone commented: “I loved how engaged and interactive the crowd here has been. I have been performing for over 10 years now, but all live shows had come to a virtual halt during the pandemic. And so, it sure feels great to be up on stage once again!”
