Adele reportedly became tearful as she returned to the stage in London last weekend to record her concert special for ITV.

The Hello singer recorded the anticipated An Audience With Adele at the London Palladium on Saturday night with a bevy of A-listers in the audience, including Idris Elba, Dua Lipa, Samuel L Jackson, Emma Watson, Alan Carr and Stormzy.

She was also joined by her boyfriend Rich Paul who has flown over to the UK with her for the first time since they began dating earlier this year. The couple were seen leaving the central London venue in their car and seemed to be in high spirits after the big night.

According to reports, Adele, 33, broke down in tears and admitted to being ‘so nervous’ performing in her hometown for the first time since 2017.

She told the audience: ‘I’m s*****g it,’ The Sun reports.

It’s said Adele was reunited with a familiar face from her childhood while also giving the microphone to Alan Carr so he could entertain the audience while she reapplied her make-up. The comedian, 45, reportedly tried to belt out the singer’s latest song Easy On Me prompting laughter from the crowd.

An insider told the publication: ‘Adele was playful and fun on stage but you could tell she was feeling the pressure.

‘She sounded better than ever but there were a couple of false starts throughout the evening, whether that be because of tech issues or her nerves.

‘But it was an absolutely incredible event – there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.’

Another lucky concert-goer said: ‘Adele was really emotional to be back up on stage again and performing these new songs which are incredibly raw.

‘She sang one track called Hold On which she said had helped her through the toughest times of her divorce.

‘She said it makes her feel really proud now when she listens to it because she’s come such a long way to feel happy again.’

Good Morning Britain presenter Kate Garraway promised fans were in for a great show when it airs later this month, and wrote in an Instagram post: ‘Wow wow and wow … @adele you were beyond sensational tonight – funny, moving & that VOICE!!!

‘So thrilled to be in the audience (and what an audience – you’ll see it on @itv soon) to hear songs from the utterly brilliant new album #adele30 & ofcourse her legendary classics . My friend @jamesdelamare_ just thought it was the best night of his life – and he wasn’t alone! So grateful to be part of it.’

Adele will release her long-awaited fourth studio album 30 on November 19. An Audience With Adele airs on ITV on Sunday November 21.
