ISLAMABAD: Pointing towards differences among the Pakistan Development Movement (PDM) parties, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain on Sunday said Pakistan’s opposition coalition was fragmented having no similarity in ideology.

“The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is the only national party which has a national agenda,” Fawad Chaudhry tweeted.

He said some parties had vote bank in one division while some others had control in three divisions.

“They have no leader and no programme. They have been striving to remain in the news, by announcement of movement against the country’s only federal party,” he remarked.

Meanwhile, the PDM parties could not reach a consensus to carry out the proposed long march against the government. According to sources, PDM head and Jamiat Ulema e Islam-F (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazl ur Rehman is unhappy with Pakistan Muslim League-N President Shehbaz Sharif for his silence over the long march against the rising inflation.

On Nov 4, the opposition parties had criticised the PTI government for “massively” increasing prices of petroleum products just two days after the premier’s announcement of the “biggest ever” relief package in Pakistan’s history.

The government had increased the petrol price by Rs8.03 to Rs145.82 per litre, an all-time high. The ministry of finance had made the announcement through a notification, according to which the government had increased the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs8.14 per litre. The new price of HSD now stands at Rs142.62 per litre.
