Idris Elba has revealed that the ‘most stressful’ gig of his life was at the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

The world-renowned actor, voice actor and winner of the title of Sexiest Man Alive 2018 is also a talented DJ (because of course he is), and was asked in a recent interview what his ‘most stressful’ DJing gig has ever been.

Speaking to The Daily Mail, the Luther actor replied: ‘The wedding, no doubt.’

The wedding in question was, of course, that between Harry and Meghan, held in May 2018, with the reception taking place the couple’s then-home Frogmore Cottage.

Idris, who goes by the stage name DJ Big Driis, played at the reception after attending the wedding ceremony with his partner , publicist Sabrina Dhowre.

He admitted he was so stressed because ‘this wasn’t like my cousin’s wedding, this wasn’t at the community hall.

‘This was a big deal.’

‘There was a lot of pressure’, the Harder They Fall star said, as Harry and Meghan are ‘good friends’ and ‘I wanted to make sure they had a great time.’

Some of the pressure was lifted however, as Meghan, who was to become the Duchess of Sussex, sent him a list of songs in advance ‘so I knew what she wanted already’.

Metro.co.uk previously reported how Idris initially thought Harry was joking when he asked the actor to DJ at his and Meghan’s wedding.

He told Ellen DeGeneres on an appearance on her show in 2019: ‘Harry came to a couple of parties that I DJed and he was like, “What are you doing on [May 19]?”

‘I told him “Nothing”, and then he asked if I would DJ at his wedding.’

‘I was like “Is this a joke? Are you joking?”‘

Despite the huge stress that came with the gig, Idris previously admitted that it was one of the best days of his life.

Speaking to the Observer, the director said: ‘I try not to talk too much about it because it was a private day, but it remains one of the highlights of my life, for sure.’
