LAHORE: An action plan would be worked out after due consultation with the stakeholders to resolve the genuine problems of the sugar industry, an official said on Saturday.
Talking to a four-member delegation of the Pakistan Sugar Mills Association (PSMA) at his office, Punjab chief secretary Kamran Ali Afzal said that ensuring availability of essential commodities at officially-fixed rates was the government’s responsibility.
The chief secretary urged the delegation to play its due role in stabilising the sugar price, saying that no one would be allowed to fleece the consumers.
The government would extend full cooperation for providing investment and business-friendly atmosphere in the country, he said and urged the delegation to work with the government for the development of the country.
The delegation assured full cooperation to the government for bringing stability in the market. The administrative secretaries of the food, agriculture and industries department and cane commissioner were also present on the occasion.
