Horror icon Chucky has shown he’s not all bad as he revealed he’s an ally to the LGBT community.

The murderous red-headed doll doesn’t discriminate, and he was keen to point that out in a clip from the Child’s Play toy’s new SyFy series.

In a video posted on the network’s TikTok account, Chucky has a chat with Jake Wheeler (Zackary Arthur), who discovered him at a yard sale.

Referencing 2004 movie Seed of Chucky, he tells Jake: ‘You know, I had a Queer kid.’

Fans of the film will remember his doll partner Tiffany giving birth, with Chucky calling them Glen, although his partner calls them Glenda.

The child overheard the row, and said: ‘I’m not sure. Sometimes I feel like a boy. Sometimes I feel like a girl. Can I be both?’

Back to the SyFy series, Chucky told Jake his son is gender fluid, and the boy asked if that’s something the doll is OK with.

In a pretty powerful moment, he replied: ‘I’m not a monster, Jake.’

Although plenty of people have brought up Chuck’s child’s identity before, this is the first time it’s been outright confirmed on screen.

Back in January, the Texas Department of Public Safety had to apologise after issuing an Amber Alert – which is the emergency message for missing children – and mistakenly featuring Chucky and his kid.

Ruben Medina of the DPS told KPRC 2 at the time: ‘This was actually a test we were running on a dev server and it accidentally went out. We appreciate you reaching out to us to verify this. We do apologise for this inconvenience (to) you.’

Not surprisingly, Twitter was all over the story, and Jennifer Tilly – who has played Tiffany Valentine a number of times in the Child’s Play franchise – was quick to point out another more subtle issue.

She tweeted: ‘Under gender for Glen it should say non-binary.’

Finally, it’s official!

Chucky airs on SyFy.
