ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain has censured Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Vice President Maryam Nawaz for posting a two years old Indian sponsored video about Balochistan on Twitter.

Commenting on the tweet, the minister said Maryam Nawaz had again posted an anti-state video on her Twitter account, “which is the part of the sponsored campaign of India launched during cricket World Cup 2019 to malign Pakistan.”

After receiving an immense amount of criticism even from her own party workers, the daughter of the three-time prime minister had deleted the video which showed an aircraft flying over a ground with the banner ‘Justice for Balochistan’. The stint was orchestrated during a cricket World Cup 2019 match to blame Pakistan for alleged injustices in the province.

Maryam said she deleted the tweet because “some known elements were misconstruing it”. She said she stood for the rights of all those marginalised in her beloved Pakistan and would continue to do so. “Baluchistan is close to my heart. No amount of propaganda can change that,” she tweeted.

Former special assistant to prime minister on overseas Pakistanis, Syed Zulfiqar Bukhari said politics aside, absolutely nobody had the right to question our national cohesion and sentiments about Balochistan.

“What Maryam Nawaz Sharif tried is no coincidence. The entire family has been on foreign agenda for long. Shameful and disgraceful even by her standards,” he tweeted with hashtag #MaryamOnIndianAgenda.
