Halloween is a time to get creative, and one Twitter user went all out by dressing up as his favourite Chaser.

Paul, who goes by @_paperbhoy, got The Chase’s Anne Hegerty absolutely spot on, taking the internet by storm with his costume.

Sharing pictures from his home, he wore Anne’s iconic grey pencil skirt and matching jacket, teamed with a white blouse and belt around the waist.

He accessorised with pearl-like earrings and Anne’s signature red lip.

For hair, he donned a short wig that resembled The Governess’s do and posed for the camera with her exact stern expression – the resemblance is uncanny!

And if that wasn’t enough, Paul had props.

Sitting on top of his staircase under a red light, he looked like a Chaser himself, also with a board of different amounts of money representing the screen on the show.

‘Happy Halloween to everyone except those who take the low offer,’ he joked.

Paul’s genius costume was met with praise, but surely what he hoped for was a tweet from Anne herself – and he got it.

Even ol’ Frosty Knickers – who is known for being typically serious and someone no one wants to cross on the gameshow, even Bradley Walsh – shared his pictures with a crying laughing emoji.

Other Twitter users called the costume ‘amazing,’ ‘a belter’ and ‘easily the best costume I’ve seen.’

It looks like Paul has well and truly set the bar! We don’t think cat ears will suffice next year.

Elsewhere, fountain of all knowledge Anne, 63, recently responded to Bradley’s comments about stepping down from the nation’s favourite quiz show.

Anne – who is one of the show’s six Chasers on the long-running ITV teatime show – reassured fans after Bradley suggested he could be retiring soon.

Speaking in reference to comments he made earlier this year, Anne told fans they have nothing to worry about, as she doesn’t think he’ll be going anywhere just yet.

Appearing on the My Time Capsule podcast, she said of The Chase’s unprecedented success: ‘It works so well, a) because it’s just such a good format, and b) because of Bradley.

‘I mean, I can’t imagine who else could do it. I know he managed to start a hare a few days ago by talking about maybe retiring in a couple of years.

‘I mean, I think this was Brad just talking off the cuff. I don’t think he has any plans to retire.’

Anne thinks the actor simply meant he ‘can’t go on forever.’

Her response comes after Bradley spoke about winding down in the next couple of years following a busy career.

Speaking on the Sliding Doors podcast, Bradley said: ‘You know what, in a couple of years time I won’t have to do any of it, I’ll be retired and that’ll be it.

‘It seems like I’m on your screen all the time only because I cram everything in a certain area of the year. We make 210 Chases, 16 Celebrity Chases, 16 Beat The Chasers. It’s only actually 86 days recording.’

And not only is he providing us with laughs on The Chase, he recently started hosting the new series of Blankety Blank on BBC One.

We hope Anne is right, because The Chase isn’t The Chase without Bradley.
