AJ Odudu got her first 10 on Strictly Come Dancing tonight but fans were also very invested in her incredible connection with partner Kai Widdrington.

AJ and Kai came back fighting after a slight dip last week saw them move a few places down the leaderboard.

Luckily, they soon showed they meant business with a very sexy Argentine Tango to Fleetwood Mac’s hit, Edge of Seventeen – which even got a 10 from Shirley Ballas.

Those watching at home were certainly very taken in by the routine which saw the pair up very close to one another, in another near-kiss moment.

It comes after Adam Peaty and Katya Jones left fans flustered last week with a routine to the same style of dance.

Viewers online highlighted the pair’s infectious chemistry, as one wrote: ‘This #Strictly has a phenomenal group of celebrity dancers. The standard is so high. Another couple, AJ & Kai, almost kissed.’

Another added: ‘AJ and Kai there seems to be a lot of chemistry there I thought they were going to kiss at the end.’

A third echoed: ‘Watching #strictly on a delay. Very high standard tonight. I’ve loved AJ and Kai’s partnership – there’s some serious chemistry there, hmm? AJ is my personal favourite this season, doing brilliantly for an apparent complete novice.’

‘The chemistry between Aj and Kai is amazing! Also a well deserved 10, but I think they deserved more points from the other judges imo. #Strictly,’ another said.

A fifth fan commented: ‘I thought they were going to have it off then! Really intense and atmospheric, I felt like we were interrupting AJ and Kai’s moment there!’

The judges were full of praise for the duo this evening, who have consistently been one of the best couples during the series.

Anton Du Beke said: ‘We are in week five now, I haven’t seen you make an ugly line in every dance you’ve done, they’ve all been immaculate, your quality of line is beautiful, I love this dance, just terrific.’

Despite Craig Revel Horwood asking for the dance to look ‘more improvised,’ he was also a massive fan of the routine.

He commented: ‘I would like to have seen a little more follow and reaction… but I’ve got to say, the amount of Argentine Tango content in there was off the chart, absolutely amazing.

Motsi Mabuse echoed their praise, saying: ‘I think you showcase so much, so much potential.

‘If I was to roll on a list, I could go on forever, it’s just amazing to see you perform and get stronger and stronger and stronger… any other couple that comes in here, it’s just wow, wow, wow.’

Head judge Shirley even gave the pair a standing ovation, declaring: ‘This is, for me, about as good as it gets, so it’s small details for me.

‘The rolling in your feet as you moved backwards, world championship level for me… I liked the flow, I liked the whole content of it, the best dance so far!’

Strictly Come Dancing: The Results airs tomorrow at 7.15pm on BBC One.
