Jessie J has confirmed her romance with boyfriend Max Pham Nguyen is over as she tells fans they’re ‘just friends’.
The Bang Bang singer, 33, began the whirlwind romance seven months ago after her split with Magic Mike star Channing Tatum, but has sadly revealed it didn’t work out.
In an early-morning Instagram Q&A with fans, the music icon was asked what her relationship status was and answered: ‘Open, happy and loving myself.’
She explained: ‘Max and I have been just friends for a while now.
‘Nothing dramatic happened,’ Jessie said, and pleaded with fans ‘please don’t over react’.
She also sang Max’s praises, adding: ‘He is an amazing man. We both have so much respect and love for each other. It just wasn’t right romantically. So we decided just friends it is.’ (sic)
Jessie went on to say the ‘only reason’ she’s willing to talk about it is because ‘it becomes weird and a little difficult when people live in your past’, adding ‘I hate how much of a big deal other people can make your personal breakups.
‘We are both happy, living and loving our lives.’
Moving on from the subject quickly, Jessie said she would spend the rest of her Sunday working out, making a roast dinner, having a bath, and – to fan’s delight – writing a new song.
Jessie and Max had been linked since the Price Tag singer confirmed her split with dancer and actor Channing in October last year.
The pair had been thought to be giving their relationship another go, and there were speculations Jessie and Channing were living together during lockdown, but she confirmed they had gone their separate ways when she made reference to ‘single life in a pandemic’ during an Instagram Q&A.
The Voice coach is back with regular updates on social media after previously taking a break to recover from a painful illness.
She revealed last year that she had been diagnosed with Ménière’s disease, which impacts the ear and can cause vertigo, and recently said she would sometimes be sobbing for hours with the pain.
