Kirkegaard’s ability to keep a straight face in the midst of chaos has earned him the signature “Bloomberg Dad” among netizens.
Even after working from home for more than a year, there are still times when individuals are taken off guard, particularly during video calls. One such instance occurred on live television when a financial expert was stopped on TV by his kid, whose antics sparked an internet laughing riot.
Jacob Funk Kirkegaard, a senior fellow at the German Marshall Fund (GMF) and a member of the Peterson Institute for International Economics (PIIE), spoke with Bloomberg News about Bundesbank President Jens Weidmann’s decision to stand down.
However, when the expert was describing how it would affect the German banking industry, his kid walked into the picture and stole the show.
While the small child was observed waving his arms wildly in an attempt to catch his father’s attention, Kirkegaard continued to maintain his poker face. He was caught on camera attempting to shove the toddler away. However, this did not prevent the father from continuing, as the youngster even reached for a stapler!
Finally, Jonathan Ferro, the show’s host, attempted to break the ice by laughing it off. ” Does your son work for the Greek government?” Ferro stopped Kirkegaard with a joke about his son.
Bloomberg producer Aggi Cantrill uploaded the video on Twitter, with many people noting how funny it was, and it naturally reminded them of 2017’s BBC Dad Robert Kelly.

The video drew a lot of attention online, with most parents praising him for his “nordic cold” calmness and poise rather than being embarrassed by it. In the end, he stated on Twitter in response to a user that he couldn’t contain his laughter.
I love this – this is going to be up there with the @BBC video! Not only is Jacob’s son a star – we have seen him before on @gmfus calls, but clearly never the full version 😉 Jacob @jfkirkegaard, as always, keeps totally cool – that’s 🥶😎 https://t.co/BGUyJQb1sQ

Here’s the reaction of netizens:
This kid video bombing his dad’s interview is how I imagine Victorians feel about doing any more lockdowns or zoom meetings.

Well composed. Art. Plants. @jfkirkegaard’s son is definitely an existentialist. 10/10 pic.twitter.com/D1xlS8CFyj
