Great British Bake Off contestant Freya has written an adorable goodbye letter after leaving the show on Tuesday, urging viewers to try their hand at veganism.
The 19-year-old, who is the youngest contestant in the history of the show, reflected on her exit after German Week and thanked her fellow bakers with the message.
‘This was, by far, the best experience of my life,’ she wrote. ‘I never imagined meeting so many incredible people in such a short amount of time.’
‘I feel genuinely blessed to have had the chance to share my love of vegan baking with the world,’ Freya added.
‘If I have inspired just one person to give being vegan a go, that is more of a success to me than winning any day of the week.’
Urging fans to try it for themselves, the teenager added: ‘It’s not that much of a faff I promise. Biggest thank you to everyone.’
The student has been showing the nation how to make delicious bakes without the need for animal-based products.
Freya was unable to use alternative ingredients in the technical challenges set by judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith – and there’s a very fair reason as to why.
Explaining the reason why in a post shared on Instagram earlier in the series, she said: ‘I was desperate to show the world [that] vegan baking is just as exciting, with the hope to inspire people to give it a go.
For obvious reasons, I wasn’t able to change the technical challenge as it would mean the whole show was unfair.’
‘Sorry if this is disappointing to hear but once the show has finished I have plans to veganise the recipes for you all, so I hope this makes up for that,’ Freya added.
Freya left the show in German Week, while Giuseppe was named star baker.
Great British Bake Off airs Tuesdays at 8pm on Channel 4.
