Julia Bradbury has received the support of This Morning stars Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield after undergoing a mastectomy.

Former Countryfile presenter Julia, 51, underwent the procedure after being diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this week.

The TV star shared a photo from her hospital bed on Monday after the operation, and on Tuesday’s This Morning, Holly and Phil made sure to give her a shout-out.

Minutes into the episode, Holly, 40, said: ‘Before we move onto our health story, we wanted to send our best wishes to Julia Bradbury.’

Phillip, 59, told viewers that Julia is ‘now recovering’ following her op, adding: ‘We loved to see her in our forest just before she went off for surgery, so we’re looking forward to seeing her and sending her all our love.

Holly added: ‘Rest up you, look after yourself.’

In her update on Monday, she told followers: ‘The anxiety leading up to my mastectomy was overwhelming, now I feel relief.

‘I’m sad that such a brutal procedure is necessary in many breast cancer cases, but I choose life.

‘I’ll follow Walt Whitman’s words: keep your face always toward the sun & the shadows will fall behind you,’ she told followers.

Julia was last seen on This Morning to help promote the ITV programme’s new forest in September, declaring it the programme’s ‘biggest-ever project’.

‘Covid has made us all appreciate the natural world around us and we thought we’d like to continue that new-found appreciation by doing our little bit to help the planet,’ Phil told viewers at the time.

Last week, Julia was hugely praised after sharing a picture of herself days before undergoing the procedure.

Posting on her social media, she told followers: ‘Goodbye left boob, thank you.

‘I’ve breastfed my children w/you, I’ve jumped into the sea, I’ve walked thousands of miles with you. Now it’s time for something new.’

She went on to remind fans to ‘check yourselves’ at the end of the post, which comes during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Julia also sent out a supportive message of her own to others in the same boat, after revealing her diagnosis in September.

She shared: ‘To all you warrior women (& men) out there, I send my love.’

This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV.
