Strictly Come Dancing pro Johannes Radebe has shown his appreciation for fellow dancer Kai Widdrington’s allyship.
Taking to Instagram, the Strictly favourite revealed that he met Kai in 2015 on a world tour for live dance show, Burn the Floor.
The pros were roommates and said they ‘always aspired’ to be part of Strictly.
Fast forward to 2021, and they’re living out their dreams.
Johannes also shared that he and Kai danced together in a same-sex partnership, long before they entered the Strictly ballroom.
The south African choreographer, who is gay, couldn’t help but shower his ‘dear friend’ with appreciation for supporting his community.
Captioning his sweet post, he wrote: ‘Kai your kindness humbles me my dear friend and thank you for being a true ally to my community.’
Also sharing some throwback videos of the two dancing together, Johannes added: The idea of same sex partnership long before cameras and lights runs deep, thank you for holding me up boo.’
Ending with a reminder for his 261K followers, he said cheekily: ‘And ladies he is single,’ followed by a winking face.
Johannes’ adorable post comes as he prepares to lead a same-sex love story routine with Kai this weekend.
Opening Saturday’s show, Johannes – who is one half of the Strictly’s first all-male couple alongside John Whaite – will play a dashing king who, despite having many friends, has no one to dance with.
That’s where AJ Odudu’s partner Kai steps in, taking his hand and twirling them around the floor at an elegant ball.
In a preview clip on It Takes Two, Johannes explained that the special routine will also see the rest of the professionals switch mid-way through the performance, so they are all dancing in same-sex couplings.
‘This dance is all about love and tolerance. I think it’s powerful. The way we both move around the dance floor is just magical,’ he explained.
Creative director Jason Gilkison excitedly added that the way the pair move together gives him ‘goosebumps.’
Strictly Come Dancing continues at 6.45pm on Saturday on BBC One.
