Love Island’s Amy Hart is planning on returning to Question Time after her controversial appearance recently.
The star, who appeared on the 2019 series of the ITV dating show, previously hit back at trolls who criticised her as a choice for Question Time.
Although she’s now admitted she was ‘terrified’ of appearing, she hasn’t let that dissuade her, revealing she’s been invited back.
‘[It was] terrifying, there was one point where i needed to top up my water and my hand was shaking,’ Amy confessed on Loose Women.
She added that host Fiona Bruce reassured her before the show started.
‘I realised quite early on, i’m not there to answer to anyone,’ she added. ‘I’m just there to give my opinion as a normal person.’
Explaining that she’s been invited back, Amy added: ‘I’m gonna go back again hopefully.’
Amy appeared on Question Time alongside environment, food, and rural affairs secretary George Eustice, shadow child poverty secretary Wes Streeting, journalist Ella Whelan and Confederation of British Industry president Karen Bilimoria.
Nasty trolls, however, hit out at Amy’s spot on the programme, forcing the star to defend her place.
‘Shudddersome that a Love Island contestant is the third best qualified political commentator appearing on QT tonight,’ slammed one critic.
Amy retorted: ‘You know I was only on Love Island for 5 weeks of my 29 year life?’
Another keyboard warrior came out of the woodwork though, and slated: ‘Can’t we just have experts instead of tv personalities. World obsessed with celebrity, it was better when they were known as household names, on a par with Jif and Andrex!’
However, another social media user jumped to Amy’s defence.
‘Isn’t the point of this to have people from the general public?’ they slapped back ‘Amy’s exposure to live TV and the media is an advantage as she knows how to conduct herself on a live TV debate. She is a woman of a generation not just a “TV personality”.’
Amy added: ‘Also my “specialist subjects” if you like, are the aviation industry, trade unions, food insecurity, food banks, young people, excluded freelancers and theatre.’
Tell ’em, Amy!
Loose Women airs weekdays at 12:30pm on ITV.
