Comedian Jimmy Carr has looked back on the hilarious moment he tried to set up Prince Harry with singer Cheryl.

During The One Show, the 49-year-old comic told hosts Harry Judd and Lauren Laverne about the time he attended The Diamond Jubilee in 2012 and had a bit of fun with the royal.

Jimmy recalled partying with Harry, and the pair discussed the Prince’s relationship status at the time.

He said: ‘Prince Harry had just done this interview at the time saying nobody wants to be my girlfriend, because no one wants the pressure.’

‘Then I said to him that I had been teasing Cheryl all day saying that i’m going to match make you two, would you mind coming over.’

Excited to meet the former Girls Aloud star, Harry replied saying: ‘ Yeah, great, have it!’.

However, nine years later, the comedian believes the Fight For This Love hitmaker had a lucky escape.

Jimmy later added: ‘Course he had the last laugh, turns out there was a lot of pressure being his wife.

‘I think Cheryl dodged a bullet there.’

Jimmy had been invited to host the Diamond Jubilee Concert, which took place outside Buckingham Palace in June 2012, as part of Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

The star-studded event, which saw the TV presenter perform in front of the Queen herself, was held to commemorate 60 years since the Queen had ascended to the throne in February 1952.

Harry started up a relationship with Suits actress Meghan Markle in July 2016, and they announced their engagement in November 2017.

They tied the knot at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle on May 19, 2018.

However the pair have been living  in Los Angeles for over a year after deciding to take a step back from their royal duties.
