With October just days away, many are already getting into the spirit of the scary season by planning their Halloween costumes.
This Halloween is set to be larger than ever, after last year’s spooky shenanigans were largely disrupted due to the Covid-19 pandemic, meaning many had to WFH (Witch From Home).
Gory Netflix drama Squid Game – which is currently at number one internationally on the streaming site – is set to compete with the likes of Cruella and WandaVision for the most popular Halloween costume of 2021.
But can you buy the iconic costumes online, and how can you DIY them at home?
Here is all you need to know.
Can you buy Squid Game costumes online?
At the moment there is no official Squid Game costume that you can buy online.
However, you can purchase some unofficial costumes from Amazon for £33.98 – but there are currently no reviews for the clothes, and so shop at your own risk.
Alternatively, Squid Game fans can easily DIY their looks using our useful tips below.
Squid Game player costume
The contestants wore green numbered uniforms to compete in Squid Games.
If you want to serve this particular look this Halloween, we recommend simply sticking some white numbers to a green tracksuit.
Monki sells a stylish green tracksuit that looks just like the one on the show for £65.
Complete the outfit with a plain white t-shirt and white trainers.
For a more authentic look, mess up your hair and paint on some fake cuts.
Accessorise with honeycomb, so you can have a snack while looking like a snacc.
Squid Game staff costume
The Squid Game staff uniform is arguably the best costume from the show, and so we reckon you’ll see many people opting to don the quintessential pink jumpsuit come October 31.
All you need is an all-black mask or fencing helmet, a hot pink jumpsuit with a hood, a black belt, and some military boots.
Fencing helmets can be pricey, so a balaclava (like this one from Amazon for just £4.76) works well as a budget-friendly alternative.
You’ll also need white spray paint, chalk, or even Tippex to draw a circle, square, or triangle on your mask.
Complete the look with a prop gun if you want to add a little vavavoom.
Squid Game Red Light, Green Light doll costume
This killer doll from episode one is everyone’s sleep paralysis demon.
Easily recreate this look with an orange pinafore dress, a yellow short-sleeve shirt, white knee-high socks, and black plimsolls.
Tie your hair into two low buns, et voila: a terrifyingly good fit.
New Look has a pretty accurate-looking dress for £19.99 and shirt for £4.50.
Seong Gi-hun costume
Who could forget protagonist Gi-Hun’s eye-catching reddish pin hair at the end of the series?
To recreate this outfit, you’ll need a navy suit – and some red hair spray.
You can also DIY a Squid Game business card by drawing a black circle, square, and triangle onto a small gold-painted card.
Unfortunately, this outfit doesn’t come with 45 billion won.
Front Man costume
The Front Man is the Squid Game’s enigmatic leader in charge of operating the games.
For this look, you will need to don a black full face mask (like this one from Amazon for £4.99), complete with geometric shapes if possible, as well as a black raincoat.
Alternatively, a black hoodie and a buttoned-up black blazer or leather jacket should also work fine.
You’ll look so good, it’s scary!
You can watch season 1 of Squid Game on Netflix now.
