BTS and Coldplay are up against Ed Sheeran for the top spot in the UK singles chart after the release of their joint track My Universe.
Bangtan and the Chris Martin-fronted band dropped the dreamy, Max Martin produced track on Friday (we love it, by the way).
Thanks to the power of Army, the name for BTS’ fans, My Universe is giving Ed Sheeran’s Shivers a run for its money in the chart.
The Official Charts Company say the song currently sits at number 2, and is a mere 1000 sales behind Ed’s latest from his album =.
Should My Universe stay in the second spot it will be the Clocks singers’ highest-charting single since Something Just Like This in 2017. For BTS it would be their highest-charting single in the UK so far, having previously reached number 3 last year with Dynamite.
Elton John and Dua Lipa team up Cold Heart, and Ed again with Bad Habits currently sit at number three and four respectively.
Out Out by Joel Corry, Jax Jones and Charli XCX completes the top five.
My Universe will feature on Coldplay’s upcoming album Music Of The Spheres, released on October 15. It’s the second single to be taken from the record, following Higher Power in May, which they performed at the Brits.
The artists have been giving fans glimpses behind the scenes at the making of it as BTS and Coldplay met up – and no one was happier than member Jin who was gifted a guitar from Chris.
The Shape Of You singer meanwhile is gearing up to embark on a stadium world tour to support =, kicking off in 2022.
It will be the first time Ed is on the road since his Divide Tour from 2019 to 2019, after which he took an extended break and welcomed his first child.
