Married At First Sight UK star Luke has defended Franky’s behaviour and stressed that he really is a good guy.
Cracks in Franky’s relationship with Marilyse started to show earlier this week, with the couple having their first public spat at one of the group dinners.
After Franky read out an anonymous letter written to them from one of the other couples, which pointed out the flaws in their marriage,’ he told his spouse: ‘Maybe when I speak, don’t speak’.
Viewers voiced concerns over the contestant’s behaviour and while Luke said his comments were ‘inappropriate’, he did stress the star has a ‘heart of gold’.
‘He is awkward though and he did make comments that are inappropriate and it’s really frustrating because I know how much he’s fighting for Maz,’ Luke exclusively told Metro.co.uk.
‘He doesn’t know how to communicate his feelings appropriately.’
He continued: ‘I’ve seen the softer side of him and I hope the public will see that.’
Following Franky’s comments, a confused Marilyse asked: ‘What do you mean?’ to which Franky explained: ‘I was just saying something to them all.’
Marilyse hit back: ‘That’s not a nice thing to say.’
Franky then did apologise for his actions after realising he’d made Marilyse upset.
The experts applauded Marilyse’s reaction, with Mel Schillings stating: ‘She’s standing her ground, this is great to see. She’s actually ruined her back on him.’
Charlene Douglas noted: ‘She’s arrived at that point on her own,’ while Mel said Franky was hiding his face to talk to Marilyse because ‘he’s ashamed’.
Franky’s boss Tam Khan previously told Metro.co.uk that the 47-year-old contestant is just ‘misunderstood’.
‘Franky’s such a good guy and I think they’ve edited him so badly,’ he said. ‘He’s come across the total opposite to what he actually is. It’s getting to him a bit and I feel for him.’
Married At First Sight UK airs Mondays to Thursday at 9pm on E4.
