Ronan Keating was forced to miss hosting The One Show tonight after his son Cooper was rushed to hospital.
The former Boyzone singer was due to present Thursday evening’s episode alongside Alex Scott.
However, she took on the hosting duties alongside former Blue Peter presenter Gethin Jones, who stepped in to replace Ronan last minute.
An hour before the episode aired, a tweet on the One Show’s account announced Gethin and Alex as tonight’s hosts with guests including Natale Imbruglia, Greg James and JJ Chalmers.
Ronan, 44, had earlier shared that he and wife Storm, 39, had taken their four-year-old son to hospital but didn’t disclose any details of why.
Sharing a picture of Cooper sat up in his hospital bed playing on a laptop, Ronan said: ‘Not the 24hrs I had imagined. But ya never know what life has in store.’
Suggesting his son was doing well, he added: ‘This little guy is an absolute Trooper. I’m blown away with his strength and charm.
‘Mum & Dad are a mess worried sick and he takes it in his stride.’
Ronan also took the opportunity to thank the hospital staff at Chelsea and Westminster who had helped his family, as he added: ‘I am so incredibly grateful to the staff @chelwestft you guys rock.’
Dad-of-five Ronan also shared a photo of Cooper to his Instagram story. It saw the tot sat up in his hospital bed, being looked after by nurses while making a mess as he played with a train set.
Ronan teased: ‘Never allowed to do this at home.’
He and wife Storm are also parents to one-year-old daughter Coco, who was born in March last year.
Ronan shares son Jack, 22, and daughters Missy, 20, and Ali, 16, with ex-wife Yvonne Connelly.
The One Show airs weeknights at 7pm on BBC One.
