The Netflix documentary about Britney Spears’ ongoing conservatorship battle will drop on the streaming service next week, the day before her next court hearing.

Wednesday saw the first full trailer for the Erin Lee Carr-directed project shared onto Netflix social media accounts with the teasing statement: ‘No more secrets. No more silence. Britney vs Spears is on Netflix 9/28.’

In the trailer for Britney vs Spears, the pop star’s voiceover is heard from an audio recording of her June 23 testimony at the Los Angeles Superior Courthouse, where she addressed the court.

For the first time publicly, the singer was heard telling the judge that she was not happy with her experience in the conservatorship.

‘I’ve worked my whole life,’ Spears’ voice says in the trailer. ‘I don’t owe these people anything.’

The official synopsis from Netflix reads: ‘The world knows Britney Spears: performer, artist, icon. But in the last few years, her name has been publicly tied to another, more mysterious term: conservatorship.

‘Britney vs Spears tells the explosive story of Britney’s life and her public and private search for freedom.’

It continues: ‘Featuring years-long investigative work, exclusive interviews and new documents, this Netflix feature film paints a thorough portrait of the pop star’s trajectory from girl next door to a woman trapped by fame and family and her own legal status.

‘It shows Britney’s life without utilizing the traumatic images that have previously defined her.’

Britney, 39, has fought a long legal battle to end her 13-year conservatorship, put in place by a judge so that her father, Jamie Spears, could manage her financial affairs and wellbeing.

The Slave 4 U singer’s fight reached new heights in June when she delivered shocking court testimony detailing how controlling the conservatorship was and likening the order to abuse.

Britney said that she was prevented from getting married and having an IUD removed so that she could have children with boyfriend Sam Asghari, who has since become her fiance after he proposed earlier this month.

The trailer’s release came just an hour after Britney’s lawyer Matthew Rosengart filed a new petition for the judge to end the singer’s conservatorship ‘completely’ this fall.

Earlier in September, Britney’s father Jamie sensationally agreed to step down from the conservatorship and filed a petition to end his involvement.

Britney vs Spears will be available to stream on Netflix from September 28.
