Eagle-eyed Doctor Who fans have been following the #FindTheDoctor treasure hunt for the last few weeks, and a new puzzle has been dropped for them to solve ahead of the new series.

The mystery continued as a 32-second clip was uploaded on the show’s YouTube channel this afternoon – and it looks like the fans are going to have a fun time working out this one out, with the audio reversed.

The appropriately named Whovians are expecting some big series 13 news over the next few weeks and have been tasked with this mysterious treasure hunt to keep the anticipation going.

The show producers seem to be keeping the fandom on their toes as no one knows what the big news is, with some wondering whether it’s a release date or another teaser.

As the saying goes … good things come to those who wait.

Jodie Whittaker confirmed in July that she would be stepping down from the role of The Doctor with this series, alongside showrunner Chris Chibnall, after three series.

Since then, several names have been thrown around as fans predict who will take over, including Olly Alexander, Michaela Coel and Richard Ayoade.

However the It’s A Sin star won’t be travelling to the Tardis any time soon as he is busy focusing on his music.

Matt Smith- who played the eleventh doctor from 2010-2013- believes actor Rhys Ifans should be considered to take the lead.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Matt said: ‘I don’t know if we’ve had a Welshman yet. I’m backing Rhys!’

Comedian John Bishop will be joining the cast as Dan Lewis – who appeared as an upcoming character at the end of the New Year’s Day special.

Game of Thrones star Jacob Anderson has also been confirmed to guest star, however the only thing known about his character is his name – Vinder.

Doctor Who is set to return to BBC One this autumn. Series 1-13 are available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
