Pakistani actress Salma Agha, who won the hearts of not only Pakistani but also Indian audiences in the 1980s and 1990s. She is not only a successful actress but also one of the best singers in her life.
Actress Salma Agha, best known for her role in the film ‘Nikaah’, was given the Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card a few years ago, which will make it easier for her to stay and work in India.
So, after getting an OCI card, Salma Agha, a British citizen, can now come to India without any hindrance. According to Salma Agha, many of her descendants have been associated with Bollywood and she belongs to Raj Kapoor’s family.
She says, “It’s our fourth generation in movies,”. She added the first Heer Ranjha film was made in the 1930s in which my grandfather Jugal Kishore Mehra played the role of Ranjha and my grandmother played the role of Heer.
Salma Agha was born in Karachi on 25 October 1956. She is a Pakistani & Indian Singer, Film Actress & Film Producer who well known for her work in Bollywood & Lollywood film industry.
The actress said that my grandfather was Prithviraj Kapoor’s uncle. While Prithviraj Kapoor’s mother and my grandfather were real siblings.
She says: “My mother did a great job in the famous movie ‘ShahJehan’. in which there was a famous song Jab Dil Hi Tut Gaya Hum Jee Kay Kya Krenge.
Salma Agha said in her interview: “My mother was born in Amritsar. While my father’s house was in Amritsar. My childhood was spent in India but I got my education in London. My father used to run his own dried fruit business in Amritsar. She Added, our family used to come and go to London. My grandparents had a British passport. And one important thing my children were also born in the UK”.
It is common for some people to say that Salma Agha has a closer relationship with Pakistan. But Salma says that she has acted in Pakistani films but she is a British citizen.
Despite being a British citizen, why did Salma think of getting an OCI card from the Indian government?
To this question, Salma said: “It was my right and I think an Indian citizen must have an Indian identity. My whole family is from India, so I did not have any difficulty in getting an OCI card.
Recalling the days of the film ‘Nikaah’, Salma said that she was awarded the Filmfare Award for her song ‘Dil Ke Armaan Aansuon Mein Bee Gaye’.
Salma Agha’s daughter Sasha Agha has stepped into Bollywood with the film ‘Aurangzeb’, while her son is about to make an entry in Hollywood.
Asked about her future plans, she said that she has been living in Mumbai for many years and will soon appear in a TV serial.
While Salma Agha is currently focusing on the work of a book based on her biography. She said that many secrets of her career and personal life will be written in this book.
Along with her career, she was also in the news for her personal life. She married Javed Sheikh, a Famous Pakistani actor in the 80’s. However, in a few years, no one knows why she separated from her husband Javed Sheikh.
